We were off last weekend at the AMERICAN LEGION post #2 at McCloy Park here in Monticello-cancelled because of the snow- we actually had about 6-7 inches accumulation here in the heart of East L.A.!!!...but...the PATRIOTS will be back this Friday to play for the weekly dance from 7:00-10:00 p.m. If you're in the area come on out and have fun with us and support the veterans! Terrie and I heard a very entertaining new young band at a venue here in town last weekend. They are Cashbox and feature Jeremiah "Jeremy" Payne on bass guitar and vocals(the kid is good, I played in a bar band with his dad, Phillip from Lake Village, AR, back in the day....(The boy is good, Phillip), Tyler Chambers from Monticello on lead and rhythm guitar (Tyler's our friend and customer from way back (well, he's not that old but we've known him most of his life, good job Tyler), Andrew Brannon is the lead vocalist and I thought did a great job....their drummer did a good job too! sorry i didn't catch your name......
Caught another good show here in town a couple of weeks ago.....a Branson Styled...Show featuring local and nationally reknowned Christian jazz band Gary Meggs and Ezekial 3:18 and new Southern Gospel group NEW REASON from nearby New Edinburg in neighboring Cleveland County (which is also the birthplace of our homeboy JOHNNY CASH) New Reason features Captain Smead, Tammy Dixon and Mechelle Brown-all excellent singers who turned in a crowd-pleasing performance....also on the bill was Mr. JARRETT DAUGHTERTY of the PIERCE ARROW THEATRE in Branson, Mo....he brought the house down rolling with laughter again and again...personally, we only laughed 'til we cried and rolled in the floor a few times......thanks all the aforementioned entertainers and to Pastor Al Womack and the First Assembly of God Church and the City of Monticello for sponsoring this charity event. GOOD SHOW!
